Beauty

Spearmint and I go way back – to the very start of the healing journey… This magical leaf was a huge help in fixing my hormonal acne. When I moved to NYC from Miami, I was not used to the high levels of stress the city caused me, which caused a huge balance in my hormones. When I went to my esthetician Cali Brookes, she told me that drinking two cups of spearmint tea every day could help me heal my acne, I couldn’t grab my mug fast enough. Here’s why it works…

Cystic and hormonal acne is usually caused by a combination of hormones, bacteria, and inflammation. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, certain hormones like androgens can “stimulate the oil glands and hair follicles in the skin, which can lead to acne.” Stabilizing your hormones, especially reducing high androgen levels can help get rid of acne. And that’s where the mint comes in. I started drinking 2 cups a day, and within about 1 month, I saw a huge change.

Acne is not the only thing spearmint tea helps. Drinking spearmint tea may help reduce hirsutism, or the growth of dark, coarse hair on the face, chest, and abdomen of women. In fact, it’s a common herbal remedy for unwanted hair growth in Middle Eastern countries. High levels of male hormones, or androgens, are linked to an overgrowth of facial hair in women.

Here is the spearmint tea I drink daily! I recommend 10/10  I get mine from whole foods, but iherb.com is a great place to buy, especially if you live in other countries outside of the USA!

Mind

As I started on this regimen of spearmint tea for my acne, I realized that also my stress was lower and I was a lot more relaxed, and though a big part of that is just the ritual alone, of drinking tea, Spearmint is actually shown to help drastically with anxiety. In fact, in South American countries, this tea is commonly used to treat stress and insomnia.

There’s even some evidence that this herb may help improve memory. Studies have shown that mice given a spearmint extract experienced improved learning and memory as shown by their performance on a maze test. In another study, older adults with memory impairment who were given daily supplements containing 900 mg of spearmint extract experienced a 15% improvement in working memory.

Body

Just like I mentioned I felt calm when I enjoyed my spearmint tea ritual, I noticed changes in my body. I was less bloated, and it seemed like those sniffles I would get walking through the city in the spring disappeared.

It turns out that Spearmint tea may Alleviate Allergies & Hay Fever. Seasonal allergies and hay fever affect millions of people around the world. Extracts of mint leaves have been shown to possibly inhibit the release of certain chemicals, which aggravate severe nasal symptoms associated with hay fever and seasonal allergies.

Spearmint tea is a great appetizer or a palate cleanser. The aroma of the herb may help in activating the salivary glands in your mouth as well as the glands which secrete the digestive enzymes, thereby facilitating digestion. It may also soothe the stomach in case of indigestion or inflammation. It can even be a potent remedy for relieving the symptoms of IBS.

Spirit

Use Spearmint in all healing Spells and rituals especially those aiding lung conditions. Add some to your pillow or mattress for protection, while you sleep. Spearmint can also be used in lust sachets, charm bags, and incenses. Smolder on charcoal or carry with you to inhale to increase mental powers. Organic Spearmint is used for purification, to remove negative energy, to heal, and to protect prosperity.

Spearmint can be used in spells for healing, to promote lust, to sharpen mental powers, and to protect oneself from enemies. It is an excellent herb to remove jinxes and open up psychic abilities.
