Spirulina and Sea Moss Superfood Benefits

So, first things first, what is a Superfood? A superfood is a nutrient-rich food considered to be highly beneficial for health and well-being. Superfoods contain a high volume of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. Two of my personal favorite superfoods that I have seen miraculous health results from are spirulina and sea moss.

Spirulina

Spirulina is one of the most popular superfoods; it is a blue-green alga with high protein and vitamin content. This superfood is a high-nutrient, low-calorie food that contains a great deal of nutrition in a small amount. It is loaded with 60% highly digestible protein, chlorophyll, vitamins, essential minerals, nucleic acids, antioxidants, polysaccharides, including a high concentration of omega-6 fatty acids. Spirulina has antioxidant and inflammation-fighting properties that help regulate the immune system while improving gut health and boosting metabolism. Introducing spirulina to the diet is proven to help people lose weight without losing nutrition. Studies indicate spirulina helps better diabetes by lowering blood sugar, increasing insulin levels, and improving liver enzyme markers. Taking spirulina extract also supports reducing cholesterol levels, lowering blood pressure, and preventing heart disease.

Spirulina is said to be the single most nutritious food on the planet.

More about Spirulina:

 – Spirulina contains chlorophyll, a powerful detoxifier that helps remove toxins from the body, such as heavy metals.

 – Spirulina curbs cravings and balances blood and sugar levels.

 – Spirulina helps beat brain fog.

 – Spirulina is full of Anti-Aging Properties.

Sea Moss

Sea moss is a type of sea algae extremely rich in minerals and vitamins such as iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc. Sea moss contains 92 out of the 102 minerals the body is made of and needs. Sea Moss is an anti-inflammatory that helps aid digestion, purifies the body’s blood system, dissolves mucus, and increases energy by boosting the immune system. Sea Moss is high in iodine which promotes healthy thyroid function. It also contains amino acids, which help the body burn fat and build muscle. Sea Moss supports healthy skin, hair, and nails. My preferred way to enjoy sea moss is in gel form and adding it to a smoothie.

Here is a list of just some of the vitamins and minerals found in sea moss:

Potassium

Calcium

Magnesium

Selenium

Vitamins A, K, and E

Zinc

Folate

Manganese

Selenium

It is fair to say sea moss has incredible health benefits and endless uses! Spirulina and sea moss combined create a powerful duo helping the body reach its ultimate healthiest potential.

Here is a recipe you can use incorporating both superfoods!
